Privacy Policy
Data protection and privacy
The Women's Survivor’s Forum offers a confidential online service and insists that principles of confidentiality are integrated in all aspects of the survivors forum to safe guard the rights of forums users.
The Women’s Centre Cornwall will only collect, process and store information we have openly collected from you or with your consent, in accordance with data protection laws.
However, there are exceptions to this rule where information can be shared without the user’s consent. Information about a user can be shared under the following circumstances:
· where the user is disclosing information about an act of terrorism
· where a court orders The Women’s Centre Cornwall to disclose information
· where there is reasonable cause to suspect that an adult’s life may be in immediate danger
· where there is reasonable cause to suspect that a child or young person may be experiencing or at risk of experiencing significant harm (see below).
Contempt of Court
Do not post any details regarding court proceedings (whether criminal or civil). Whilst the forum can allow people to discuss “treatment” in family courts we cannot allow discussions on actual details of a case as this could affect the case.
Do not post a comment which could damage the reputation of a named organisation or individual – this is called libel and is against the law.
Safeguarding children
The Women’s Centre Cornwall is committed to safeguarding children. We have robust policies in relation to Safeguarding and will take appropriate action if we discover that a child or young person is experiencing, or at risk of harm or abuse.
We will have a direct conversation about this where possible in order to outline what we will do and discuss safe choices for women.
This may include working with a woman to contact Children’s Services or, where necessary, making a referral ourselves.
